Mt Stirling is open early
MT STIRLING IS OPENING EARLY!
Due to heavy early snowfall the resort gate for Mt Buller and Mt Stirling is commencing operation on Saturday 1 June, 2019.
The gates at Telephone Box Junction (TBJ) will close at noon on Friday 31 May and remain closed for the winter season until the Thursday before Melbourne Cup Weekend.
Mt Stirling is preparing to open for a winter wonderland for XC skiers and snowshoe explorers from Friday so there will be no vehicle access beyond TBJ on the Circuit Road to allow visitors to enjoy this beautiful area on foot.
If you are visiting Mt Stirling before the gate closure on Friday please note that significant rain and snowfalls have resulted in the Mt Stirling Road being suitable for 4WD only. Please drive slowly and with caution and adhere to the wheel chain declaration and signage.
Official winter season opening date: Saturday 1 June
Snowplay and tobogganing will be available at TBJ to make the most of the fresh falls – as at Tuesday there is between 10cms on the lower mountain and 35cms on the higher elevations!
For the opening weekend the following will be open!
- Drop in to the Café which is open from 9am to 5pm
- Ski hire is also open from 9am to 5pm offering rental toboggans, snowshoes and XC ski packages
- SNOWPLAY is open at TBJ so come and get your slide on!
- Ski Patrol are on deck and so are our visitor information team
Depending on snow conditions into the weekend we anticipate limited grooming snow dependent.
After this weekend 3 – 6 June:
Stirling Café and Ski Hire will close during the week but all other resort services remain operational including visitor information and ski patrol services.
If you plan to visit give Stirling Ski Patrol a call 0409 945 901 on between the hours of 8am – 5pm for up to date information and conditions.
