Back open for regional Victoria

STIRLING REOPENS TO REGIONAL VICTORIA

17 September

Mt Stirling is delighted to again welcome visitors from regional Victoria from Thursday 17 September in keeping with the move to step 3 on the roadmap for Victoria.

Resort CEO Mark Bennetts confirmed the eagerly awaited news, “We invite our fellow country Victorians to come for a drive and visit us in the mountains to stretch your legs, get some fresh air and enjoy the magic of spring up here.  We know how keen everyone is to get outside again and get out for a walk now the spring melt is underway and restrictions are easing.”

“This is an important first step towards revitalising our community, tourism and local businesses and we are already working hard on preparations for the seasonal change from snow season to ‘green season’ in the coming weeks.”

Resort Entry will be free for visitors with car access to Telephone Box Junction from Thursday 17 September.  All other usual seasonal road closures remain in place.

Visitors to Mt Stirling are invited to get back on the trails for walking and hikes, and might spot the occasional patch of snow.  It’s a great time to take a hike to the summit and keep an eye out for the early flowering alpine marsh marigold as well as colourful flame robins and rosellas.

Please note the trails are not yet open for bikes or horses as essential maintenance is underway in readiness for the progressive opening of trails from Cup Day weekend in early November.

All visitors to Mt Stirling are encouraged to complete a Trip Intention card and drop it in the slot at the Resort Management office at TBJ.

Camping is now permitted in accordance with the public health guidelines.

All DHHS health guidelines remain in place including capacity constraints in line with the resorts Covid Safe Plan, and the mandatory use of face coverings.

  • All cars coming into the resort must stop at the gate to register details for capacity and tracing purposes and a temperature check. If you are unwell please stay home.
  • Overnight visitors are required to carry wheel chains as snowfalls are possible at any time.
  • Mountain bike trails remain closed for maintenance and will progressively open from early November.
  • All visitors are to follow all signs in resort and stay on marked trails to protect precious flora and fauna
  • Please take only photos and leave no trace – help us care for this beautiful part of alpine Australia!
